Fees

If you are interested in becoming a new patient, please note that I am out of network with insurance companies. The fee is due at the time of service. I do not submit claims to insurance companies, but can provide documentation that you may submit to your insurance company for out of network benefit reimbursement.

Please contact your insurance company ahead of time so that you are aware of your specific policy coverage for out of network psychiatric services.

You may want to ask the following questions:

What is my eligibility for out of network mental health/behavioral health outpatient care?
How much would be covered for office visits that have the CPT code of 90792 (initial evaluation by MD)? How much would be covered for common follow-up codes for visits such as:

90834/90837 – 45 minutes therapy/>52 min therapy only 

99213 + 90836 - brief medication management and therapy

 99214/99215 + 90833 – moderate/ complex medication management and therapy.

***Please note, I cannot guarantee that these are the codes that will be used for your visit but these are commonly used codes for the services that I provide.***

Am I responsible for a certain amount of payment each year (deductible) before my insurance starts to cover payments?
How many sessions are covered by my plan per calendar year?
Do I need to have a pre-authorization before services? What is the process for submitting this and being approved?
Are there any differences in what is covered if my psychiatrist is seeing me by telehealth (video conference)?

Why Don't I Accept Insurance Directly?

My primary focus is being able to assess and provide you with good quality psychiatric treatment based on my own expertise and training. While I strongly believe that people should have access to mental healthcare, I have unfortunately experienced how some insurance companies can impede this goal with frequent requests for paperwork to continue to authorize needed treatment, reimbursements that do not match the time and expertise that is needed for good quality psychiatric care, requests for access to patients' personal records before covering care, and sometimes even trying to dictate treatments rather than accepting the treatment recommendations by the doctor actually seeing you. If you do have a financial constraint based on income, please ask me about any options around a sliding scale fee.
